  1. Is the camera/phone an eye? Is media really a prosthetic extension of the human body as people from Vertov to McLuhan and beyond have asserted?

  2. Its an add-on that extends ones visual range and ability to draw from and negotiate surrounding space. Anything that we use to enhance our capabilities to see, communicate and survive could be considered an extension of the human body.

  3. But the outcome becomes something else; once you've negotiated that space, captured it on a device, manipulated it with software, uploaded it to a media hosting site. Does it not become a discrete object, does it not communicate as much about itself and its own way of presenting itself to the world. How far can it continue to be considered to represent a negotiation of a particular space?

  4. Is there not a point where it is no longer an extension of your's and becomes a kind of Frankenstein perception? Conversely, if this is the case, do you still feel it, like some phantom media limb?
